[edit] History

[edit] Formation of SK Gaming

SK Gaming's foray into League of Legends began on September 16th, 2010, when SK acquired team I wear a Cape IRL consisting of Osaft22, SleazyWeazy, Severus, Reyk, Zylor, Pylat, and Awe kek. [1]

[edit] Season 1

With this lineup, SK Gaming was able to take second place at 2010 World Cyber Games. In the group stage, SK Gaming was in a three way tied for first, going 2-1 by defeating AnotherStory and Counter Logic Gaming Prime, while falling to ChinaHero. In the playoffs, SK Gaming was able to defeat ChinaHero in their rematch 2-0, advancing to the finals of WCG 2010. There, SK Gaming would fall to Counter Logic Gaming 1-2, taking home second place. [2]

In addition to taking on the roster of I wear a Cape IRL, on December 8th, 2010, SK Gaming recruited the members of Team Dimegio. With this pick up, SK acquired Araneae, nRated, rashaasii, Wickd, ALth0r, and ocelote. [3]

On March 23rd of 2011, Araneae would leave SK Gaming. [4]

[edit] Pre-Season 2

The SK lineup would undergo a few more changes in the coming months. One of the biggest roster changes in SK Gaming's history occurred on June of 2011, with ALth0r, Farfain, Limelight, nRated, Severus, and SleazyWeazy leaving. To take their place, SK Gaming would pick up Candy Panda, WetDreaM, and Nyph. [5]

With their new roster, SK Gaming would participate in the 2011 IEM Season VI - Global Challenge Cologne. Unfortunately, SK would come out third in the group stages, going 1-2, defeating Frag Executors while falling to Counter Logic Gaming Prime and FnaticRC. Due to being unable to place top 2 in the group stages, SK Gaming would be eliminated from the tournament, taking home 5th/6th place along with Team ALTERNATE. [6]

Shortly after the event, WetDreaM would be replaced by Snoopeh. [7]

On October 5th, 2011, SK Gaming would place third in the IEM Season VI - Global Challenge Guangzhou. Showing a strong performance, SK Gaming would place first going 2-1, defeating CrossGaming and Invictus Gaming, while taking their only loss in the group stage by falling to eHome. In the semi-finals SK Gaming would fall to Counter Logic Gaming Prime 1-2, falling to fight for third place. Finish off strong, SK Gaming would defeat eHome 2-1 to take third at the tournament. [8]

A few weeks later, SK Gaming would qualify for the IEM Season VI - Global Challenge New York. In the group stage, SK Gaming would place first going 3-0, defeating Sypher, Curse Gaming, and v8 eSports. Continuing on their success, SK Gaming would defeat Counter Logic Gaming Prime 2-0 in the semi-finals. However, SK would fall in the grand finals 0-2 to FnaticRC.

[edit] Season 2

In the coming months, SK Gaming would undergo several changes to their roster. On October 20th, long time top laner Wickd would leave SK to form a team with WetDreaM under the name of Absolute Legends. SK would pick up MoMa for a short stint to replace Wickd, but MoMa would leave shortly after signing on. Near the end of 2011, Snoopeh would leave SK Gaming to join the Counter Logic Gaming EU and Absolute Legends merger team. To fill the void, SK would pick up former against All authority top laner Kev1n. [9]

Ten days after SK's roster changes, they would place fourth at the IEM Season VI - Global Challenge Kiev. SK Gaming would place second in the group stage, defeating Curse Gaming and White Lotus while falling to Team SoloMid. Unfortunately SK would fall to Moscow Five in the semifinals 0-2 and Dignitas 0-2 in the third place match. [10]

On February 12th, 2012, Dedrayon joined SK Gaming as their jungler.[11] SK Gaming would have a dominant performance in the group stages of IEM Season VI - World Championship, going 4-1 and taking second place, defeating Curse Gaming, Team SoloMid, Sypher, and eHome, while losing their only game to Moscow Five. However, their success would not transfer over to the playoffs, as SK would fall to against All authority in the quarterfinals. SK Gaming would take 5th-6th place.

Long time mid lane AP Carry ocelote would switch roles with top lane player kev1n on May 20th, 2012. [12] However, the change would not last for long as ocelote would return to the mid lane as SK's AP Carry on June 8th. Along with this change, Kev1n and Candy Panda would switch their positions, with kev1n become the AD Carry and Candy Panda taking the responsibility of top lane. A month after these position changes, long time SK member Candy Panda would leave the team along with jungler Dedrayon. To replace Candy Panda, SK brought on former Absolute Legends top lane player YoungBuck. Eleven days later, SK Gaming's roster would undergo another change, with Svenskeren and YoungBuck leaving and Kev1n moving back to the top lane.[13]

On July 29th, SK grabbed 3rd place at European Challenger Circuit: Poland with Araneae jungling and YellOwStaR playing the AD carry role. Two days later, the lineup from Poland was announced by ocelote as the permanent roster.

Shortly before the start of the Season Two European Regionals, SK Gaming would temporarily pick up AD Carry YellOwStaR and Jungler Araneae. After two weeks of training, SK Gaming would make their appearance at the Season Two Regional Finals - Cologne on August 16, 2012. Matched up against the Polish team Team Acer.PL in the first round, SK Gaming would take the series 2-0 to advance to the next round. SK Gaming would cause a great upset in the semifinals, sweeping the heavily favored Counter Logic Gaming EU 2-0 to qualify for the Season 2 World Championship and advance to the grand finals of the tournament. Unfortunately there SK Gaming would meet the end of their success, falling to the Russian team Moscow Five 0-2 to take home second place. After the strong performance of their AD Carry YellOwStaR and Jungler Araneae, SK Gaming would recruit them to play full time.

On August 25th, during the Campus Gaming Party: Berlin, SK took the third place on the B group with two defeats (against Eclypsia.Luna and Fnatic). However, YellOwStaR and Kev1n weren't at Berlin for some personal reasons. For this tournament, they got Metalx (Western Wolves) and Schabs (Team Acer) to stand in for them.

In early October, SK Gaming traveled to Los Angeles to play in the Season 2 World Championship. Unfortunately for SK, they would meet an early exit, losing to CLG Prime, Azubu Frost, and Invictus Gaming in quick succession in the group stage. They left with an 11th-12th place result and $ 25,000.

On the 11th of November, SK Gaming would participate in Tales of the Lane. After placing 3-1 in their group with victories over Tt Dragons, mousesports, Team ALTERNATE, and one loss to Fnatic, SK was seeded into the Semifinals of the bracket stage. They lost their semifinal match to Eclypsia 0-2, and lost the following Third place match to Moscow Five 0-2, placing them fourth in the seven overall, going home with € 2,500.
